Can a digital or film back on an ALPA camera be positioned vertically as well as horizontally?
Yes, they can. The relevant interface on the ALPA platform is square, which allows all backs to be attached in the horizontal (“landscape”) or vertical (“portrait”) position. There is no need, for example, to re-position the camera on the tripod if the photographer wishes to change from one orientation to the other. Above all, this system of reversing but not revolving backs allows a much more precise positioning than any other swiveling construction.
