Why are all ALPA shift-sleds mounted on roller-bearings?
There are, of course, cheaper solutions to support shift sleds. For example, one can let a metal profile slide on another – but rapid wear with too much or too little play and slide resistance can result. Experienced photographers who rely on their cameras over many years cannot help but accept the technically superior solution of roller-bearings at all the critical points of their cameras. Among such criti-cal points are undoubtedly the bearings of all shift sleds.
