How do I synchronize my Leaf back with the ALPA?
This is very simple: Just select the 'large format mode' on your Leaf back and connect the flash sync socket of the Copal shutter with the digital back. As the back uses an 'always on' technology you can take pictures right away once your back is switched-on and ready.
The great thing with the Leaf backs is that they work with every standard flash sync cord. There is a helix cable coming with your Leaf but personally we find it too long and massive for the ALPA and short lenses. What we use for lenses like the Apo-Digitar 24/35/47XL, 60N, 80L, 90N is the Metz standard synchronous cable 36-50 (see their Website) which comes also with some Metz flashes. It is only 25 cm/1foot and you can easily connect the back with the sync shoe of the Copal shutters. It is way less massive then the helix cable which we use for the longer lenses like the 120 N/M etc. only.
And one advice more for digital photography: Just have a backup of everything! Have spare batteries and also more than one sync cable with you all the time. Those little things are either exhausted too early or can also get lost. And we bet you have right then no nuclear power station in your pocket when you need the power for an extra shot or your tongue is not long enough to short-out the sync signal when the cable breaks or gets lost :-)
